La Troba Kung-Fú at Apolo


La Troba's mission to bring the lively sound of rumba Catalana to the world, brings they backto home territory on November, when the celebrated band play Barcelona's Sala Apolo.

The cost of the tickets are 8€ in advançe or 10€ at the door.

Doors open at 8:30 pm.

They play rumba catalana and their concerts are very funnys and exitings. Finaly the entry is not very expensive.

Prostitutes protest poor treatment


Some 100 sex workers went to the streets of Raval in Barcelona recently to denounce a recent crackdown be Barcelona's Guàrdia Urbana.

The police sweeps made few arrests, but were staged to intimidate prostitutes and make headlives.

While prostitution is legal under Spanish law, Barcelona's municipal orinare forbids the "offering, solicitation or regotiation, weather direct or indirect, of paid sexual services in public sapce". Infractions are punishable by fines of up to 3.000€ for sex workers and 198€ for clients. Clarisa Veloci, the organizer, says that around 90% of city prostitutes are self-employed and have willingly chossen to do the job that they do. She says that many police fires have no legal grounds and infrige the rights of prostitutes.

They only wants to work without feel uncomfortable on they work and amounts to gender violence.

LISA WIXELL, A FASHION DESIGNER


Lisa Wixell is a fashion designer from Sweden who has lived and worked in Barcelona for the past seven years. In November 2007 after designing collections for others all her carrer, Wixell decided to open her own fashion botique.

She come to Barcelona for the lifestyle and weather, and because she say that its easer to be a designer here for both economicar and cultural reasons, but also yo find good people to work with.

She say that the inspiration comes from everywhere, but mostly she's inspired by the female body. She starting to make fashion clothesfor men, but now with the shop she only do women's fashion clothes. Womens come to her shop to buy something special, like one dress, one piece of clothin to wear to a party or a special occasion...

She things that the Spanish and Catalan people like to dress up only for a special occasions.

After all, she is a great designer.
